Projects Shortlisted for Landscape Institute (UK) Awards 2018

We are very pleased that two of Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design’s (SCLD) projects have been shortlisted as Finalists for the prestigious Landscape Institute Awards. Our two (2) shortlisted projects are the Learning Forest and Kranji Marshes.
The LI received over 160 entries for the Awards from companies and practitioners from around the world. A total of 36 projects were shortlisted and we were fortunate that both projects submitted by Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design were shortlisted as finalists.

Learning Forest at Singapore Botanic Gardens now OPEN

On 31st March 2017, the Learning Forest at Singapore Botanic Gardens was officially opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. He commemorated the event by planting a tree, Kopsia singaporensis, together with Minister of National Development - Mr Lawrence Wong. 

The Learning Forest is a new 9.8 hectare extension to the existing Singapore Botanic Gardens, designed by Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design. The Learning Forest has a different theme and atmosphere to much of the existing Botanic Gardens, as it is more natural, and has a less manicured ambience.

"A River Runs Through It" Exhibition - Bishan to City Feasiblity Study

It's a busy week for us all at Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design. Today ( Wednesday 29 March 2017) our Bishan to City Feasibility Study project, to create seamless connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists along the Kallang River, featured prominently in a new exhibition at the URA Centre with the title 'A River Runs Through It'. The exhibition was launched by Minister for National Development - MR Lawrence Wong.

Countdown to opening of The Learning Forest SBG

On Friday (31st March) the Prime Minister will be opening our Learning Forest project at Singapore Botanic Gardens.
The final preparations and general cleaning up are underway to prepare this 10 hectare extension to Singapore Botanic Gardens for the grand opening.

First portion of LTA Cycle Network in Ang Mo Kio opens to the Public

The first sections of the Cycle Network have opened for public use in Ang Mo Kio with more opening in a months time (early July).
Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design (SCLD) have been at the forefront of developing the Standards for the Cycle Path Networks along with LTA and the Consultancy Team.

Cassia Phuket Thailand

Cassia Phuket - Thailand 
The Cassia Phuket in Thailand recently opened also and represents the latest brand from the Banyan Tree Hotels group. The brand concept is very much art, music, and most importantly fun.
Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design were commissioned to design all the external areas. Pleased to see the children's sand pool adjacent to the main pool has worked out well.

SCLD appointed as Landscape Consultant for Round Island Route - Coastal Adventure Corridor

Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design (SCLD) are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Consultancy for the first phase of the Round Island Route (RIR), a 150Km recreational trail for pedestrians and cyclists around Singapore.

The Round Island Route is a proposed 150Km long recreational walking and cycling route that circumnavigates Singapore. The RIR will connect existing rural, industrial, civic, residential, recreational, urban, natural, cultural, and historic locations with exciting new features, facilities and elements.

Jim & Andy arriving in Singapore soon

The other Directors of our proposed Garden Design Asia (Jim Fogarty and Andy Sturgeon) are arriving in Singapore and will be presenting / participating at the SingaPlural 2014 World Class Design Forumon the subject of 'Where Landscape Craft meets Gaming Fantasy'.

Jim Fogarty will be presenting - "Using BIM and 3D Technology to Communicate Design for Show Gardens" while Andy Sturgeon is "Living in a Dream(which is what we've been telling him for years!).

Jim and Andy were recently both in NZ to Judge at Ellerslie International Flower Show and have since been featured in the first ever 3D printed miNiATURE Garden Show at the Strand Gallery London.
Andy 
has also just won 3 awards for a tropical garden at the Philadelphia Flower Show in the USA. Congratulations !

Bird spotting at the Construction Tender briefing - Kranji Marshes

Looking forward to getting the Contractor on board and starting the construction work on the Nature Reserve.

Purple Swamphens (Porphyrio porphyrio)
Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea)
Yellow Bittern (Ixobrychus sinesis)
A flock of Red-wattled Lapwings (Vanellus indicus atronuchalis)
Several Long-tailed Parakeets (Psittacula longicauda) - our native Parakeet
1 Kingfisher - just a glimpse, probably a White-throated Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis)
