On March 21st 2018 staff from Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design gave a technical tour of the Learning Forest at Singapore Botanic Gardens to a school group from the College les Aigrettes, Reunion island (La Réunion) who are visiting Singapore on an educational and cultural tour. The group of 17 students aged from 11- 16 years have worked wonders to transform their own School environment as part of their ‘Vague Verte’ (Green Wave) project under the guidance of their teacher, Sophie Auzeine. Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design are happy to announce that our masterplanning project Bishan to City Feasibility Study has won a Gold Award at the Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards.
The aim of the planning study was to further progress of the National Cycling Master Plan by providing seamless connectivity between Bishan and the City along the Kallang River. This URA commissioned study was to determine the technical feasibility of a series of pedestrian and cycling friendly crossings along the Kallang Park Connector with the aim of creating a seamless route. Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design wins the Outstanding Award of Excellence at the Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards for Kranji Marshes. Read More
The Kranji Marshes improvement project was intended to reinstate the marsh as a haven for freshwater birds and provide access and facilities for visitors.
Kranji Marshes is now home to more than 170 species of birds, 54 species of butterflies and 33 species of dragonflies, all of which can be observed and studied by visitors without disturbance.
It seems a shame not to share our photos and videos of some of our Singapore Otters with their pups taken in March this year (2017). This is just one of the families of Smooth-coated Otters (Lutrogale perspicallata) to be found in Singapore. This particular group of otters are long gone from their former holt location at Changi now. Read More

The wildlife bridge has been monitored by NParks with camera traps, bat detectors (which is a device that detects the echlocation calls made by different species of bats and not a gadget used by Bruce Wayne), and bird ringing programs.

Here at Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design in Singapore we use the SketchUp and Lumion to produce our Landscape Architectural visualisations.
We have produced a lot of visualizations in Lumion for our projects such as the Round Island Route Coastal Adventure, Kranji Marshes, and Bishan to City Feasibility Study in the last year. Sometimes however SketchUp and Lumion are fun to just play with as can be seen in the video of a hobbit house below. Read More

As Landscape Architects and Lead Consultants for the project, Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design created new wetlands, visitor facilities, replacement parking, and themed walks encompassing a wide variety of forest, bamboo and wetland plant collections whilst also conserving and improving the existing southern forest.
On 31st March 2017, the Learning Forest at Singapore Botanic Gardens was officially opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. He commemorated the event by planting a tree, Kopsia singaporensis, together with Minister of National Development - Mr Lawrence Wong.
The Learning Forest is a new 9.8 hectare extension to the existing Singapore Botanic Gardens, designed by Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design. The Learning Forest has a different theme and atmosphere to much of the existing Botanic Gardens, as it is more natural, and has a less manicured ambience. Read More
It's a busy week for us all at Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design. Today ( Wednesday 29 March 2017) our Bishan to City Feasibility Study project, to create seamless connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists along the Kallang River, featured prominently in a new exhibition at the URA Centre with the title 'A River Runs Through It'. The final preparations and general cleaning up are underway to prepare this 10 hectare extension to Singapore Botanic Gardens for the grand opening.

The Cassia Phuket in Thailand recently opened also and represents the latest brand from the Banyan Tree Hotels group. The brand concept is very much art, music, and most importantly fun.
Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design were commissioned to design all the external areas. Pleased to see the children's sand pool adjacent to the main pool has worked out well.
